Even the Internet website novice can probably name off a dozen areas of marketing. Anyone who’s ever used the Net for more than a day is well aware of all the different ways people work to get their message out to you. From annoying pop-ups in videos to carefully constructed back-links, the possible avenues of website marketing are plentiful.
There are some areas in site marketing that stand out as far more effective than others, however. That’s not to say that the rest aren’t important and shouldn’t be tried in conjunction with the big players. It’s just the way the Internet works, and anyone thinking of marketing their website should focus more on the most effective areas in order to drive traffic.
In no particular order of importance, as they’re all major players, here are three of the most effective areas of website marketing.
Number One: Campaigning
Whether you’re link campaigning, media campaigning or performing some other type of campaigning, it’s important that a website be out there in Web Land and linkable from a variety of different sources.
With link campaigning, what you’re aiming to do is link back to your site in as many areas as possible. For instance, if you see a popular blog that’s in your wheelhouse in terms of a niche market, you’ll want to have your link displayed on that blog.
There are a couple of ways to get this done. First, you can ask the site owner/webmaster for a trade link for link. Next, you can agree to provide content (they all love content!) with a link back to your site. Lastly, you can just pay a fee to have your site linked from their site. Mastering this area will ensure more traffic.
Media campaigning can be as simple as linking YouTube videos back to your site and developing a following via your profile. Granted, that might not be simple to accomplish, but it is simple to set up and to get the ball rolling.
Number Two: Ezine Advertising
If you’re not already a site owner or at least privy to insider marketing techniques, then you may have no clue what an ezine is. Basically, ezines are online newsletters and promotional pieces where site owners release information to their customers about upcoming promotions, updates and other newsworthy material.
Using ezines effectively will require a little bit of knowledge. You can learn about third-party advertising, paid ads and even turn ezines into another stream of revenue while simultaneously using them to increase customer loyalty and expand your visitor base.
Number Three: Site Development
This one isn’t a marketing technique, per se, but it is a proverbial make-or-break area of a website. If your site is not properly developed, then you can pretty much count on going under.
This doesn’t mean that your site simply has to look good; it also needs the latest applications, enough bandwidth, a solid server, and other aspects to give it a clean interface and to make it as user-friendly as possible. Take a look around at the top websites competing in similar markets and see what they’re doing that you should be doing.
