One: Make sure you announce any new product you’re currently offering or are planning on offering in the future. Speak well about it, promote it to your customers, and create a bit of excitement about this product by letting them know they’re the first to hear about it.
Two: Don’t be shy when offering discounts and special promotions to your customers. 30% for one sale means you’re taking a 30% loss, but picking up 30 extra sales, for example, will mean you’re gaining huge in the long run.
Three: Keep things in the newsletter flowing as they do on the site. Stick to the design template for brand recognition; use the same type of language albeit a little more enthusiastic and including headers and tabs basically, this is your website, your business, being sent out.
Four: Be brief here. This isn’t the time to tell people about your product and review it and talk about your entire business. Keep points about the length of a sentence, and make sure you’re highlighting the positive. The idea is to get people to your site through the newsletter.
Five: Keep newsletters consistent. For example, a monthly newsletter or a letter every time you’re releasing a new product or offering a new promotion this is the way to go. Too many newsletters will come across as spam.
Six: Apart from all the important information you will need to put in here about your new product, service or promotion, you also want to add a few calls to action. Banners and text links send people to a designated area of the site, and the right rhetoric in the letter will have them motivated to click.
Seven: Always list an option that allows people to unsubscribe and always allow them to see this in plain sight. What this does, basically, is gives the recipient the feel of control and makes your newsletter stand out as more legitimate and less like spam.
